ARTIST STATEMENT
My journey as an illustrator, product/package designer and sometimes sculptor has allowed me to share my vision for this world that appeals to both children and adults alike.
The mischievous characters and scenarios I develop are to remind us of those special hours we spent as children believing in magic and are a vehicle for re-experiencing those times with future generations of loved ones.
Share the love.
Since childhood when her garden magically morphed into a lagoon, Mb's storytelling has expressed itself though her design work, drawings, product design and sculptures. Studies overseas allowed for passport into the funky French culture, an influential thread throughout her work.
Mb entered the glamorous world of publishing at Condé Nast, built a fashion accessory design business thanks to Bendels, Bergdorfs, Bloomingdales & boutiques. Press by Vogue, WWD & Harper's Bazaar España provided much needed creative courage. She designed packaging, promotional gifts and salesgirls costumes for Oscar de la Renta Fragrances and Revlon. Her concepts for Shiseido Cosmetics included retail store displays. Mb's design for a national competitive million piece premium gift-with-purchase promotion for Hanes pantyhose was 2nd runner up. Levi's came calling for emerging pre-teen sassy bag market. And then....
A young newlywed move to the country found mb expanding into custom murals, painted furniture at hunting lodges and custom gifts. Commercial and residential interiors, including the suite HRH Prince Charles frequented at Hamilton Farms followed and morphed into event design for private clients.
Her 4th installation for designer showhouses was the juried Blairsden Mansion to benefit Morristown Memorial Hospital (33,000 guests). Mb's whimsical balcony, a checkerboard of lettuce & moss was populated with "The Garden Keepers" sculptures based upon her illustrated characters. Her dishes set the table she designed and she created a custom scent in collaboration with Nose About LLC . The collection of drawings entitled "Les Gardiens du Jardin" are the French cousins of The Garden Keepers. Just maybe, they will become sculptures too. Galerie d' Orsay, Boston hosted an Artist in Residence for her.
We are reminded once again Mb never does anything small.
Her drawings have been acquired by art collectors, interior designers and small businesses.
